The first AUT Music Club was generated by Wayne Sangsuwan in the role of the Club president and Alex Shih in the role of the Club Vice-President, with two types of instruments including one guitar and one violin at the time.
The name of the Club "Light UP" was created by Alex Shih, alongside with Wayne running the Club the purpose of improving the AUT Student Community.

Light UP attended the Clubs Day held by AuSM that was the day all Clubs in AUT got together to get more Club members, which 19 students signed up within the day.

The first Light UP Club day took place that was the first act of assignation to generate the first group of Light UP committees decided by a small number of AUT students who had signed up in the Clubs Day, including: .
