Lichen Nature is a Saskatoon based Right Livelihood Business focused on Nature Play, Ecological Literacy (plant and animal identification, tracking, landforms, aquatic life), Bioregional Garden Design, Consulting, Garden Education, Outdoor Education, Grant Writing (for Ecological Projects), Ecologically Based Musical Experiences, Nature Therapy (I walk with you as you develop healthy habits of land-based connections, experiencing the myriad of benefits from time spent in nature near and far).

My name is Elizabeth Jane Bekolay.
I have been studying the natural world since birth.
I was fortunate to live close to so many natural areas that I explored fully as a child, youth and adult.
Nature is where I find my medicine, my peace, great healing, adventure, clarity, intuitive sense and belonging.

I was not without challenges in my youth.
I want to share this because I would like the people and students I work with to know that I have known struggle...that it wasn't always easy.

As a youth I struggled deeply with depression.
Someday I'll write more about this.
I came to understand that the world I explored in the forest and on the river was not the same world that was projected to me on the TV screen.
In this world was my sanity, a place where everything made sense.
This is where I healed and where I continue to heal.
I think it is important for the youth and adults I work with to know that I have also struggled, this is where we find our strength and wisdom.

We acknowledge the genocide that occurred on the lands known as North and South America, knowing that only in facing truth can reconciliation occur.
