Detailed description is Central Virginia's competitive independent percussion ensemble, LUID, competes in the Open Class in WGI and local circuit AIA.

2012 2016 is the fifth active year of the LU Indoor program, and the fourth year being represented in Dayton at WGI World Championships after being a finalist in 2013 and winning the bronze medal in 2014, the group advanced to PIO for the 2015 season.

The group was formed and is currently led under the direction of Tyler Loftin, a Liberty University and USC graduate with a bachelors in Music performance with a percussion specialization and a Masters degree in Percussion Performance.
2012, the inaugural season for LUID, consisted of 25 performing members and took the silver medal in AIA's PIA competition, .05 away from the Gold medalist.
In the 2013 season, the ensemble added several members to each section, and swept PIA class AIA finals with a Gold medal by more than 7 points, and proceeded to WGI PIA finals, where they recieved 6th in prelims and 8th in finals.
The 2014 season added to the previous year's medal count, claiming a gold medal in AIA for the second time, and snagging the bronze after finishing 3rd in the world for PIA at WGI World Championships in Dayton, OH.
