Le premier regroupement de caisses populaires en Ontario s’effectue à Ottawa en 1946, avec la création d’une Fédération des caisses populaires d’Ottawa et districts, qui réunit une dizaine de caisses.
En 1950, la Fédération des caisses populaires de l’Ontario regroupe 35 caisses ; en 1992, on compte pas moins de 45 caisses.
Par la suite, certaines caisses se fusionnent, avec le résultat qu’en 2003, la Fédération se compose de 36 caisses affiliées.
Le réseau comprend plus de 800 employés et gère un actif de près de 1,8 milliard de dollars.
