Jusqu’à ce que qu’elle rencontre par hasard des joueurs d’échecs, tombe amoureuse de ce milieu et décide d’en faire un film.
Pendant plus d’un an, de tournoi en tournoi, elle s’immerge parmi les joueurs qui deviennent ses amis avant d’écrire son scénario.
