The idea of Lather & Salt began with candle making in 1995, moved on to an interest in horticulture, essential oil & fragrance blending.
With the birth of my second child in 2002, the journey lead me to an interest in skin care.
I began reading labels on everything..

Frustrated with the ingredients in commercial products, I discarded my over-priced, chemical laden skincare arsenal and started using Olive Oil as a moisturizer in 2002.
The journey into quality skincare began and I started formulating Olive Oil based balms, salves, and soaking salt recipes without unnecessary preservatives & chemicals.
Through much trial and error...a lot of reading and research, I settled on the idea that Olive Oil was really the best base for the products I loved.

It was at the suggestion of my husband that I make soap.
It seems a bit naive of me to say, that I had never thought of soap as an important part of skin care.
True to my nature, I started reading and researching, experimenting and eventually succeeding.
Once again, it was Olive Oil that I based my soap line on..

The line began with a Calendula infused Olive Oil Soap with Cocoa & Strawberry that was named Take Me Back.
It remains in the line, and is one of the most popular soaps we offer.
Next came a soap for the outdoor loving men in my life and with it the creation of Dark Woods, which is a deeply noted Cedar Essential Oil & Activated Charcoal soap.
Black #7 was next formulated and made for my younger brother & young adolescent son, to help them clear their troubled skin naturally..

The line was growing steadily, receiving solid praise and returning clients.
I started booking shows and touring Western Washington.
Three years of traveling, and it was time to give the line a home base.
