LAGO TURANO - A 536 m sul livello del mare, il Lago del Turano è un grande bacino idroelettrico artificiale realizzato sul fiume omonimo con una diga eretta nel 1939 nel pressi dell'abitato di Posticciola e di Stipes..
Lungo una decina di chilometri e con un perimetro di circa 36 km, è collegato al Lago del Salto da una galleria lunga 9 km e insieme a questo alimenta la centrale idroelettrica di Cotilia, parte del Nucleo Idroelettrico di Terni di E.ON, che rilascia poi le acque nel Velino a monte sia della città di Rieti che della confluenza dei fiumi Salto e Turano che nel loro corso naturale si immettono nel Velino il primo subito prima dell'abitato di Rieti e il secondo a valle di Rieti nella Piana Reatina..
