Lady Warren Hose Company #5 was organized in 1869 allegedly as a result of the sentiment "Irish Need Not Apply," which still existed in the Village of Haverstraw at that time.
Irish immigrants and sons sensed these feelings, but were eager to serve their neighbors and all residents.
