I dreamed of opening an Etsy shop for a long time, but it never seemed like the right time or the right product.
Finally the planets aligned and Lady Skein was born! As a lover of all types of crafts, I seemed to gravitate towards crochet over and over again.
But I didn’t want to leave out my other loves: jewelry-making and sewing.
You will find pieces in my shop that incorporate all three mediums with crochet as the headliner..
My creations will appeal to women who are like me.
We have a quirky but cool style, appreciate retro and vintage styles of the past, but still want to remain modern and on trend at times.
The simple but elegant crochet patterns and lace in my designs add just the right amount of drama to finish our outfits.
We won’t be stepping out looking like we are wearing grandma’s tacky Christmas gift from last year, no sireee!.
I come from a family of entrepreneurs who have inspired me in so many ways.
First, there is my grandfather, a WWII veteran who didn’t even finish high school and he started a propane company that to this day provides propane to residents all over Wisconsin.
Then there is my mother (Hi Mom!), who had her own drapery business while raising me and my sisters.
Finally, there is the 13-year-old me who made and sold “friendship pens” to just about everyone in her class.
