Detailed description is I am a creative Visual Artist, located in North central New Jersey.
I specialize in Visual Guestbooks, Portraiture, and Invitation & Card Design- but please don't think that's the limit! I would love to create the perfect piece for you, so contact me! Many of my clients have approached me with a job to create a piece of art, similar to but different from, something they saw in a Home Goods store, on Etsy, Pintrest, Facebook, or even in a magazine- which inspired them, but wasn't exactly what they had in mind..

I've been creating Visual Guestbooks for nearly a decade, as they are popular requests among my commissioned pieces.
You may have seen something similar on Etsy, Pintrest, or in Wedding Magazines! Usually done for a client's wedding or baby shower, these pieces are most often created on canvas using acrylic paint; but they are always made to order, and can be created using a variety of surfaces and mediums.
They are a modern take on the Guestbook, found at most Baby Showers, Bridal Showers, Wedding or other formal event, which is traditionally laid out to be signed as a commemorative record by the guests in attendance.
Unlike a traditional guest book, which usually ends up stored away in a box or on a book shelf, a Visual Guestbook is able to adorn the walls of a home.

My particular specialty is Portrait Art; having created a substantial mix of Individual, Family, and Pet Portraits as commissioned pieces.
I work mainly in oil when creating a portrait piece, but as with all of my commissioned work- the surface and medium of each piece can be made to order.
Using vibrant tones and mixing colors directly on the canvas are some trademarks of mine, most apparent in my painted personal work and fantasy portraits.
Making the right choices for the colors, textures, and highlighted features, while deciding whether to define the details or obscure them, is an integral part of each, unique, personality.
This becomes evident through every portrait piece.

A bit about who I am and what I do...
I was diagnosed at the age of 3 with a form of Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
All of the things I would have been prone to doing, as a competitive and physical child, were slowly being stripped away as I grew.
I became less able to move my body without the aide of another person helping me to stand, lifting me off the ground, supporting me when I was walking, and even carrying me over distances or up stairs.
I was about 4 years old when I started drawing and painting as a hobby.
As it became harder to move and more difficult to explore the world physically (independently and alongside of my able-bodied peers) I found that my drawn and painted creations spoke to me as an avenue for healing and engaging with others..

I graduated from Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences, with a degree in Fine Art and Art History.
For the Studio portion of my degree I studied at Mason Gross School of the Arts, and there I was formally trained in classical drawing and painting techniques.
During college I started working as a Substitute Teacher in a local Township, then eventually, branched out to many districts throughout New Jersey in the Public, Private, and Charter school sectors.
I absolutely love teaching, and doing so in a classroom prompted my teaching Private Art Lessons..

Currently, I live in Somerset County with my fiance and our two black and white cats- creating art every chance I get.
I still work as a certified Teacher in New Jersey, on and off, when I have the time and ability (the glorious perks of a 'Per Diem' Substitute teaching position!), and I still teach Private Art Lessons- predominantly out of my home studio.
I also work part time from my home office as a Call Center Representative, and volunteer some of my time for the organization CureSMA, as the Advocacy Committee Chair, for their Northern New Jersey Chapter.
For me, what started out as an emotional release, turned into an imaginative way to explore the world around me; studying the physical application of creating works of Art- an ancient and uniquely human experience that tethers me to my peers beyond physical boundaries and limitations.
