The Krewe of Artemis-Springhill was started in the summer of 2002.
James and Bert Harris, .
along with Carole Castleberry, Melinda Moseley and Billy Dubois, Jr., were relaxing on the Harris' patio .
and dreaming of how to bring Mardi Gras to the Springhill area.
There had been a Springhill Main Street.
Mardi Gras Parade since 2000 and this small group was looking for ideas to increase publicity and spark .
interest in the community.
They took their thoughts to the volunteers who had worked on the parade and .

the name, since Springhill and surrounding regions have always depended heavily on woodland .
