Selçuk Üniversitesi, 1975 yılında Konya'da kurulmuş olan bir devlet üniversitesidir.Tarihçe1955 - 1962Konya'da üniversite açılması konusunun gündeme geldiği tarih 1955 yılıdır.
Bu tarihte Konya'da üniversitenin kurulması için TBMM'de bir kanun tasarısı hazırlandı.
Tasarı, Milletvekillerinin yarısından fazlası tarafından da imzalandı.
Ancak tasarı talihsiz bir şekilde Milli Eğitim Komisyonu'ndan geçemedi.1962 - 19771955 yılından 7 yıl sonra, 1962'de Konya, M.E.B.'e bağlı olarak açılan Selçuk Eğitim Enstitüsü ve Yüksek İslâm Enstitüsü ile üniversiteye sahip olma yolunda ilk ciddi adımını atmış oldu.
Bu ilk adımın güçlendirilerek geliştirilmesi için 1968 yılında Konya'da Üniversite'yi Kurma ve Yaşatma Derneği kuruldu.
Nihayet duyulan yakın ilgi, gösterilen üstün gayret ve sarf edilen çabalar boşa gitmedi ve bugünkü Mühendislik-Mimarlık Fakültesi'nin nüvesini teşkil eden Mühendislik-Mimarlık Yüksekokulu kuruldu.
Binası, dersanesi, personeli ve bütçesi olmadığı halde Üniversite'yi Kurma ve Yaşatma Derneği'nin gayretleri ile 1970-1971 eğitim-öğretim yılında Çocuk Esirgeme Kurumu'na ait bir binada (Gazi Lisesi yanı) hizmet vermeye başlayan bu yüksekokul, 5 Temmuz 1971 tarih ve 1418 sayılı kanunun 9.
maddesine istinaden Konya Devlet Mimarlık Mühendislik Akademisi unvanını aldı.
