Donelda started Killer Desserts back in 2002 in an old bank building.
The business outgrew that location and she sought a spot with bigger storefront, space to expand and located in the midst of Port’s pedestrian traffic.
The move to the present Bridge Street location allowed Donelda to expand into the “and much, much more” of the tagline with homemade soups, salads, sandwiches, specialty coffees and an extensive selection of Ontario - or Canadian - made gourmet products..

Donelda’s guiding principles are quality ingredients, prepared from scratch, and made to order.
She’s excited about continuing with those same ideals, while expanding the Killer Desserts & Café’s repertoire to include a variety of loose teas from the Metropolitan Tea Company..

Donelda’s interest in cooking began at a young age when she and three sisters were given the job of having dinner on the table when their working parents arrived home.
She smiles, “I was the one who liked doing it most.” Though her parents didn’t care for spices, she took to developing her own culinary personality and love of spices, herbs and interesting flavours when she moved away.
She says, “My favourite way to spend an afternoon was preparing a gourmet meal for guests.
That doesn’t happen much now.” The business reality of working seven days a week and timing baking to coincide with off-peak electricity rate hours doesn’t leave much time for recreational cooking, but she is still happy to put her culinary energies into preparing food for her Killer Desserts & Café guests..
