Detailed description is Kids In A Box is an annual fundraiser that began in 1999, which benefits McHenry House Tracy Family Shelter.
How it began….
In 1999, a nine-year-old Tracy girl named Rainey Lomolino, borrowed an idea from her cousin to raise funds for the homeless.
She camped out overnight in Lincoln Park in a cardboard box, like many homeless.
She asked friends, neighbors, family, and businesses to sponsor her, and she raised $9,000, which she gave to McHenry House Tracy Family Shelter—the ONLY family shelter in Tracy.
This was the start of what we now refer to as "Kids in a Box".
This popular fundraiser has grown over the years and now in its 13th year anticipates over 300 campers who will try to raise at least $30,000 for McHenry House.
Last year's Kids in a Box (KIB) was a great success.
