Detailed description is Allison, Emily, and Ryan are running the 2017 NYC Marathon to save the lives of those affected by Fanconi anemia.
In 2016, Allison Adams lost her father, Dr.
Ken Atkinson, when he was shot while saving the life of his neighbor who was a victim of domestic violence.
She had already seen much tragedy in her young life, watching helplessly as both her brother, Taylor, and sister, Kendall, each died at a young age from Fanconi anemia, a very rare disease which causes bone marrow failure and early onset cancer.
Her father was a real life superhero not just to Allison but to many.
He dedicated himself to saving others from the monster that took the lives of his children when he, together with his wife Jeanne, started the KATA Foundation which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for Fanconi anemia research in their memory.

On November 5th, Ken Atkinson's daughter, Allison Atkinson Adams and family friends Ryan Krall and Emily Krall will be running the NYC Marathon for KATA.
As they train, they will dedicate each one of the 26.2 miles of their marathon run to Fanconi anemia fighters.
