My story - Oooohhh love a good meal out, drinking, partying! Work hard and play hard has always been my motto! After returning overseas my weight was slowly creeping up and up until a very close friend of mine one day said to me Jo - what's happening with you,? I knew exactly what she meant as I my weight had escalated to nearly 19 stone!!!! I was in so much denial that I just brushed it off and even for a while tried to avoid her, however a meal at hers where the other dinner guest was a Slimming Consultant - the inevitable was going to happen.
However nothing was said apart from the amazing SW consultant bought me a bag of goodies a book, magazine some bars and just said if you fancy coming to group I'll be there for you x After a few months I realised that I had to do something and weighing in a little lighter I took the plunge.
After all I should know all about this after years of struggling and yo yo dieting (believe me I have tried them all and most more than once!!!) I found Slimming World! Amazed at what ! could eat most without counting or measuring = happy me! Well less than a year later after 4 stone loss I was invited to an opportunity event to become a consultant (never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would ever become a consultant after nearly 27 years in the Royal Navy!!) and I was hooked, and as they say the rest is history x my group launched New Years Day 2016 and OH MY GOODNESS I love it xx I never want anyone to feel how I did walking back into a group and feeling a failure (which I really did) x My group is positive, fun and above all supportive.
There are many, many, reasons why people struggle do this alone (if it was as easy as get the book and follow - well we would have all done that).
