Detailed description is Down to earth photography company run by my wife and I.
Hi, my name's Jim and my wife's name is Kelly.
We are the proud parents of two children, a boy and a girl.
In seeing how much we were spending on photos of our children growing up and how picky we were, we decided to begin capturing our children's moments ourselves.
Shortly after starting this we began getting asked by family, then friends, then friends of friends to capture their family's special moments, which is essentially how we got to this point..

This is not our full-time job as we both have full time jobs.
We both have master's degrees in social work and therefore work with individuals with various emotional and behavioral problems.
Kelly works with children and Jim works with children and adults.
You're probably wondering why I'm telling you this.
That is because I think we bring a certain skill set that other photographers might lack, which is our ability to work with people.
Whether that be getting a young child who is not behaving during a session to calm down, a shy child to open-up, or an anxious adult to become comfortable.
As a result of our work, we both have child abuse, FBI, and state criminal background clearances.

Another reason I told you about our full-time line of work is for pricing reasons.
When our son was first born, we began having his pictures taken by a photographer who did it as a living.
She was really good, but because she was so good, but also because she did it for a living, her prices increased rather quickly to the point we just couldn't afford her.
Because we are not trying to support ourselves with this business, we are able to keep our prices lower than other full time photographers and very competitive with most part time photographers in the area.

I also believe, that since this is not our full time job, we have the ability give our clients the most personalized experiences before, during, and even after their photo shoot.

As for what we are able to shoot, that's really up to you.
We can do maternity, newborn, engagements, weddings, family, senior & graduation, children, boudoir, birthdays, etc.
We can shoot outdoors at a location of your choice or we can recommend different locations we've been to.
If you prefer something indoors, we can also do that as well.
My wife is excellent in coming up with themes, props, and backdrops for indoor shoots.
These indoor shoots can happen at our home in our makeshift studio or at your home.
As for my style of photography, I would say I am a combination of still-life photography, portrait, candid, and photojournalism when photographing events.
I tend to prefer crisp, clean, simple photographs without a whole lot of background distractions to really bring out the most important parts of the photographs: the individual(s).
Unless specifically requested by a client or when I think doing so would really add to a photograph, I tend not to do a whole lot of black and white, color pop, or other highly edited options as I want to keep things crisp, clean, and natural.
I do however do other post shoot editing such as touch up skin blemishes (unless requested not to do so), correct exposure, white balance, and other editing to give the client the best looking photos possible..

As for pricing, because I am a small company and do this on the side, I am very flexible and really try to work with my clients to give them exactly what they want, so the following is a general rule of thumb and therefore would be happy to quote pricing depending on what exactly you want.

As a general rule of thumb, I charge $60 for a 45-60 minute session within the greater Williamsport/Hughesville area.
I have no problem traveling further, but additional charges may apply for my driving time.
That price includes 18-25 edited photos on a disc with a print release so you may print as many and of whatever size photos you would like at your convenience.
If it is a multi-family, I also have no problem in putting the images on several discs so each family may have a disc at whatever cost the discs cost at the time.
That 45-60 minutes is yours, so you may do as many wardrobe changes, location changes, poses, etc.
as you would like.
I will however, listen to what you have in mind and perhaps suggest we limit these wardrobe/location changes or increase your total time if I feel that there are too many changes that will interfere with your actual photo time.

I usually offer mini sessions throughout the year such as Valentine's Day, spring/summer, fourth of July, Fall, Christmas, etc.
I usually charge $25 for a half hour with 8-12 images on a disc with print release or $50 for an hour with 15-20 images on a disc with print release.
I am happy to work with kids with emotional or developmental disabilities or behavioral problems, but encourage parents to consider an hour session as sometimes it takes a bit longer to get quality images with these individuals.
For families with 3+ children, with children who are more shy, or if the parents want wardrobe changes, it also makes sense to go for an hour in order to fit everyone in and also get quality images.
If there is a time of year that you are interested in mini sessions and I might not have advertised for it, let me know as it might be something I am willing to advertise and give you that special pricing if there is enough of an interest for..

As for wedding photography, I would say a general rule of thumb is somewhere around $100 an hour.
I try not to tie myself or the client down to a set price because there are so many variables to consider.
I do charge more per hour for weddings than I do hourly rates listed above simply because of the added pressure and anxiety on myself in capturing such a special day.
Weddings are so unique because I only get one chance to capture those special moments.
Weddings are extremely expensive, yet photography is arguably the most important part as photographs is how you will remember this special day for years to come.
So I want to work with you to give you the best options and experience at the best price.
