Ans: Jeremy is a self-made businessman based in the North East. He lives in Newcastle with his wife Catherine and they have three children, Jessica, Lucy, and James.
Jeremy came to the North East over 30 years ago. In fact he originally came to sell soap!
Jeremy says "I loved the North East. But I liked selling soap a lot less. So I quit my job, borrowed £10,000 on my credit card and went into business with my best friend Richard. We tried lots of things and most of them failed. We were nearly bust, and the bailiffs came to my door more than once. Fortunately, Catherine sent them packing! But we stuck at it and put in the hard graft to make our idea work. Today, our plumbing business employs more than 4,000 people in this country and beyond."
Jeremy now works day to day developing North East businesses and serving as a Board Member of the North East Local Enterprise Partnership.
Jeremy was a governor of a primary school in South Benwell in the mid-1990s, then a governor of Benfield School in the late-90s. Today he is a governor of Studio West School in West Denton and a board member of homelessness charity Changing Lives. He has served on the Promotions Board of St Oswald’s Hospice since 2005.
In 2012 Jeremy was awarded a CBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours List for Services to Politics and Charities.
