Jean Leon es una boutique winery fundada en 1963 por Jean Leon, un visionario que materializó sus dos grandes sueños: abrir el restaurante más lujoso de Hollywood y elaborar un vino exclusivo para deleitar su selecta clientela.
La bodega, propiedad de la Familia Torres desde 1994, es pionera en el cultivo de las variedades de cabernet sauvignon y chardonnay en España y en obtener el reconocimiento de “Vino de Finca”.
Desde la añada 2012 todos sus vinos están certificados como orgánicos.

El primer gran sueño de Jean Leon se hizo realidad en 1956 con la inauguración de La Scala.
Junto con su amigo y actor James Dean creó el restaurante más lujoso de Beverly Hills, que pronto se convirtió en el lugar de reunión de las celebridades más influyentes del momento como Marilyn Monroe, Paul Newman, Robert Wagner o JFK.
Era la época del ‘American way of life’, en la que todo era posible, así que Jean Leon decidió lanzarse a por su segundo gran sueño: elaborar un vino con su nombre que estuviera a la altura de su selecta clientela..

A WINE.
Para empezar a producir el mejor vino, Jean Leon buscó las mejores tierras y las encontró en Cataluña, en el corazón del Penedès.
Una vez allí, hizo algo inédito en nuestro país: sustituyó las cepas locales por vides de cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc y chardonnay, convirtiéndose así en la primera bodega de España en producir vinos con estas variedades francesas.
Rodeada de 60 hectáreas de viñedos, la bodega fue fundada en 1963 al más puro estilo Château de Burdeos y fue pionera también en crear el concepto de Single Vineyard.
Y es que Jean Leon puede presumir de ser la primera bodega del Penedès y la segunda de Cataluña en obtener la certificación de 'Vi de Finca' (Vino de Finca).
Acorde a su filosofía de respeto al medio ambiente, desde 2008 realiza agricultura orgánica y, desde la añada 2012, todos sus vinos poseen la certificación ecológica otorgada por el CCPAE..

Rodejat de 60 hectàrees de vinya, el celler va ser fundat l’any 1963 al més pur estil Château de Bordeus i va ser precursors del concepte château o single vineyard, actualment conegut com a vi de finca, convertint-se en el primer al Penedès i el segon a Catalunya en obtenir aquesta certificació.

Setting out to make the best wine, Jean Leon first needed to find the best place to do so.
He found it in Catalonia, in the very heart of the Penedès.
Once he had found it, he did something no one in Spain had ever done: he substituted local varieties for Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay, thus becoming the first winery in the country to make wines from these French varieties.
Surrounded by 60 hectares of vineyards, the winery was founded in 1963 in the style of an authentic Bordeaux château.
The winery was also among the first to introduce the concept of a Single Vineyard Wine.
In fact, Jean Leon was the first winery in the Penedès and the second in all of Catalonia to obtain the Vi de Finca – or Single Vineyard Wine ¬– certification.
In keeping with its environmentally friendly philosophy, the winery has practiced organic farming since 2008.
As of the 2012 vintage, all Jean Leon wines are certified organic by the CCPAE (the Catalonian Council for Organic Agriculture).
