Detailed description is Le Jardin de l'État, autrefois appelé Jardin du Roy, est le seul véritable jardin botanique de Saint-Denis, sur l'île de La Réunion.Planté d'arbres et d'épices ramenés de l'extérieur de l'île par Pierre Poivre, il abrite un Muséum d'histoire naturelle ouvert en août 1855.
Il a lui-même été aménagé entre 1767 et 1773.Son entrée principale donne aujourd'hui sur une petite place desservant la rue de Paris qui décorée de deux petites arches en pierre et d'un buste du général du Premier Empire François Gédéon Bailly de Monthion.
On trouve dans le jardin lui-même un buste de Pierre Poivre et une fontaine Wallace.HistoireLe jardin est créé en 1761.
