The main house was originally built in the 1890's by the Wright family.
Max Walden, a dedicated preservationist, purchased the house for his own family and began renovation and restoration in 1980.
As adjacent property became available, Waldenn purchased it with an eye to developing it for the use and enjoyment of the people of Hanford and its visitors..

Eventually, there were four buildings in the compound.
Most interesting is that, except for the main building, the other three buildings were not two-story buildings.
