Detailed description is Upcoming Intro to Rodeo Weekend will be Sept.
6th and 7th.
Instruction on barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping and team roping.
The Intro to Rodeo Weekend is for all ages and levels of riders.
We are trying to promote the sport of rodeo and we are focusing on events offered by High School Rodeo.
No high school rodeo associations are sponsoring these weekends.
It is a private event.
A percent of the proceeds will be donated to Maryland High School Rodeo.
CURRENT MDHSRA members can attend this event for FREE (with their own horse, $20 for use of ours).
Events we will cover on both days are barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, and team roping.
The cost per day is $50 with your horse, $70 with ours.
You will learn to tie a real goat but all roping will be on a dummy (no live cattle) for the Intro to Rodeo Weekends.
You are welcome to come both days but it will be the same information each day (but more practice for you!) Anyone interested in roughstock events (bulls and broncs), steer wrestling, and tie down calf roping please contact me.
We are setting up future clinics for those events.

Just some information about Maryland High School Rodeo:.

Kids in Elementary School can compete in the 'Mustangs division'.
The events are barrels, poles, goat tying, breakaway roping and boys and girls compete together.
There is also mutton busting for ages 4-6 under 60lbs..

Kids in middle school (Jr, High) compete separately in events.
Girls events are barrels, pole bending, goat tying, and breakaway roping.
Boys events are tie-down roping, chute dogging, and junior bull riding.
Ribbon roping and team roping boys and girls are competing together.

High school competitors are also split in girls and boys events.
Girls events are barrel racing, pole bending, goat tying, breakaway roping, and queen contest.
Boys events are saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding, tie-down calf roping, and steer wrestling.
Girls and boys compete against each other in team roping.
