A nossa igreja é fruto de um trabalho iniciado desde 1901 (ver Histórico em nossa página www.iecdecoroagrande.com) .
Foi organizada como igreja em 19 de junho de 1943 e desde então está filiada a União das Igrejas Evangélicas Congregacionais do Brasil - UIECB.
A Igreja se encontra sob a direção e pastoreio do Reverendo Washington de Mello Medeiros, há 19 anos.
Temos como igreja filha, a IEC de Brisamar, hoje pastoreada pelo Rev.
José Reinaldo da Silva Delfino e principiamos a IEC Itaguaiense, hoje, pastoreada pelo Rev.
Israel Gomes da Silva.
Participamos de forma ativa, com todos os departamentos da igreja - Uniões de Jovens, Adolescentes, Mulheres e Homens (UMEC, UAC, UAF, UHEC) da Associação Sul Metropolitana de Igrejas Congregacionais, representante regional da União das Igrejas.
Participamos de todos os projetos da União das Igrejas, destaque para o Projeto Nilson Braga.
Somos uma igreja voltada para a questão "Social" mantendo em andamentos, pelo menos, dois Projetos Sociais, a saber: Projeto "Mulheres que Fazem" (artesanato, oficinais e atendimentos) e Projeto - Dignidade é Preciso "Moradores de Rua", com visitas e assistência periódica a moradores de rua, em estado de abandono, com o objetivo de ressocialização e integração dos mesmos à família e à sociedade..
