o Aquidabã surgiu de uma idéia do Dr.
Ênio Corrêa da Silva, irmão do Dr.
Léo Corrêa, que veio a ser o primeiro Comodoro do Clube, de se fazer em Angra um clube náutico, pois os outros clubes que já existiam na época, não eram de angrenses ou que aqui viviam, mas sim, de pessoas do Rio que fundaram o Iate Clube de Angra dos Reis (ICAR), no Pontal e o Iate Clube do Rio de Janeiro com uma subsede, na Praia Grande.

O Dr.
Ênio Corrêa era Diretor da Ordem Política e Social no Rio de Janeiro e passou seis meses de licença prêmio em Angra.
Neste período foi que ele dissiminou a idéia de se fundar esse Clube, com os jovens que conviviam e“ batiam papo” quase diariamente na Farmácia Confiança e na Casa Abado Antônio, como: Ênio e o Léo Corrêa, Orlando Gonçalves, eu, Antuan, Nilton e seu irmão Waldir Barbosa, Roberto Souza Costa (o Paulista) e o Chefe Cotta.
Logo outras pessoas como o Salomon Pedro Reseck, Jorge Paulo Wishart, Maryan Salomão, Professor Jair Natalino Espíndola Travassos, Catarina Massad, Benedicta Salomão (Bidica), Dr.
José França Santos, Ayrton José Coelho de Britto, Antonio Valentim de Carvalho Filho, Félix Salomão, Dr.
Érico da Fonseca, Heitor Chagas da Rocha (Rochinha), João Goulart Coimbra, Jonas Bahiense Lira, Lélia Elias e seu irmão Luíz Elias Miguel, e tanto outros que aderiram à idéia da edificação do clube.
O local escolhido para a construção foi uma área de aproximadamente 5.000 m2, localizada no início da Costeirinha da Praia do São Bento.” .

Em 05 de fevereiro de 1960, 52 pessoas interessadas reuniram-se pela primeira vez no Salão Nobre da Prefeitura Municipal de Angra dos Reis, sob a direção dos trabalhos do Dr.
Jorge Paulo Wishart, que na época era o prefeito Municipal.
Foi determinado que o valor patrimonial do clube teria o valor inicial de Cr$ 5.000.000,00 (cinco milhões de cruzeiros) , distribuídos em 100 cotas-partes de Cr$ 50.000,00 (cinqüenta mil cruzeiros) cada uma, cujas condições de aquisição seriam de Cr$ 5.000,00 (cinco mil cruzeiros) e o restante dividido em 19 prestações mensais de Cr$ 2.500,00 (dois mil e quinhentos cruzeiros), conforme Ata da Assembléia de Constituição e Fundação, que teve como secretário Geraldo Pamplona Machado, escolhido por aclamação pelos presentes....
