Detailed description is Huntington High School Athletic Facilities Capital Improvement Campaign (AFCIC) WHAT IS IT? The Huntington High School Athletic Facilities Capital Improvement Campaign (AFCIC) is a volunteer effort to provide state-of-the-art athletic facilities and equipment for our student-athletes.
Better facilities will help our 200+ athletes improve their skills and compete at the highest level, and potentially give them more opportunities to earn college scholarships and have more choices for their future.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE? A committee chaired by 3-time NFL Superbowl Champion Troy Brown, has been assembled to representing the interests of ALL sports at HHS, will decide the priorities as funds become available.
Our main priorities are construction of a new weight room and strength facility, and renovation of the existing indoor baseball facility so that it can be used for baseball as well as a multi-purpose training and conditioning center.
The committee will oversee all expenditures and all meetings and financial records will be open to the public..

WHY DO WE NEED THIS? It’s hard to believe, but our “new” high school is now nearly 20 years old and it is a big challenge to ensure the facilities in which our student-athletes practice and compete remain state-of-the-art.
The economic climate at the county and state, and the nation at large, requires us to do more here in the community to improve our facilities.

HOW MUCH MONEY ARE WE TRYING TO RAISE? Our goal is to raise $250,000 by June 2015.
The Campaign allows for varying levels of support so everyone can participate and benefits increase with each level of support.
Donations to the AFCIC are tax deductible and donors have several options for giving.
They can make their gift now, or make a pledge now and submit their gift later as one lump sum or in two installments.
Levels of giving are: .

Booster $1-$99.
Highlander $100-$249.
Green $250-$499.
Gold $500-$999.
Captain $1,000-$2,499.
All-Conference $2,500-$4,999.
All-American $5,000-$9,999.
Champion $10,000-$24,999.
Hall of Fame $25,000+.

WHAT DO WE PLAN TO DO WITH THE MONEY? First priority is the construction of a new 5,800 square-foot weight training room and strength facility which will benefit all of our student-athletes, as well as our students who take weight lifting as part of Phys Ed.
The existing weight room is grossly undersized and the new weight room will be safer and more efficient.
This facility will be beside the existing green building by the football field which will be updated into a fitness center.
Estimated cost: $100,000.

SOCCER – New restroom facilities adjacent to existing concession stands.
Estimated cost: $30,000.

BASEBALL/SOFTBALL – Placement of crushed red brick on the baseball field’s warning track and new locker rooms near the fields.
Estimated cost: $35,000.

FOOTBALL – Renovation of the current weight room into a film room/study hall and renovation of coaches’ offices and locker rooms.
Estimated cost: $30,000..

TENNIS – New wind breaker netting to be placed on the chain link fencing to minimize the effects of wind and repair of cracks in the courts.
Estimated cost: $25,000.

TRACK & FIELD – Repairing and repainting the track and renovating the grounds around the track such as the sand pits for the long jump.

BASKETBALL, CROSS-COUNTRY, LACROSSE, SWIMMING, VOLLEYBALL and WRESTLING will all benefit from the new weight room and strength facility..
