In the late 1800′S, many families attended worship services in neighboring churches.
A desire began to grow in the hearts of men and women in this area of Newton County, MS, to have a place of worship in their midst.
Therefore on September 10, 1889, by the request of a number of brothers and sisters in Christ, a presbytery convened at the Brand School House for the purpose of constituting a regular Baptist church named Hopewell..
