Detailed description is Helicon is the official club for the History of Art department at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
First and foremost, Helicon is a visual art club that works to connect the student body, UMich faculty, and Ann Arbor community with art-related events and social platforms.
To accomplish this, we are divided into 4 committees:.

Events:.
—curate off-campus student art shows (one in Fall, one in Spring).
—interdisciplinary salon talk, bringing in experts (both professors and students) to facilitate the event.
—casual museum trips to DIA, Toledo, Flint, UMMA, artprize, Art Institute of Chicago.
occasionally HistArt professor accompanies Helicon to give tour .

—blog.
—visual and literary art print magazine (printed in Spring).

Fundraising/Volunteer Work:.
—art education at community centers/elementary schools.
—grant writing.

Public Relations:.

—graphic designer.

Finally, each year 10 students in Helicon go on a spring break trip with a cap at $300 charged to the students.
Helicon covers the cost of transportation, lodging, all museum and entrance fees, metro cards, etc.
Students are only responsible for the initial cost and food/personal expenses.
Last year Helicon went to Paris, the year before New York, then Los Angeles, then London.
International trips occur every 3 years.
On these trips a Professor and sometimes a graduate student accompany Helicon members to the selected destination and they tour the city together! Many art museums are visited but we also like to see cultural events (concerts, shows), parks, neighborhoods, natural history museums, etc.
