Detailed description is Welcome to Headline Burmilla's I fell hopelessly in love with this beautiful breed some years ago when I saw a photo of a Burmilla in a NZ woman's Magazine.

From that moment on I knew that I must have one of these gorgous cats.
Little did I know at that time that we would go on to sharing our lives with this beautiful breed of cat..

We occasionally have kittens available to approved homes.
All our babies are bred indoors with lots of love and attention and the very best of diets.
Resulting in Happy Healthy Kittens..

Burmilla History.

The Burmilla came about as the result of an accidental mating between a Lilac Burmese female (Bambino Lilac Faberge) & a Silver Chinchilla male (Jemari Sanquist).
.
In 1981 Miranda Bickford-Smith (Astahazy Cattery) had purchased a Silver Chinchilla (Sanquist) as a pet for her husband.
Faberge came into season & was isolated but a cleaner accidentally left Faberge's door open & she was able to escape & pay a visit to Sanquist.
The result of this mating produced 4 female kittens, all short haired & Black Shaded Silver in colour..

These stunning kittens had a spectacular temperament & there was much interest in the cat world in them.
It was decided to begin a controlled breeding programme..

In 1984 a Burmilla standard was agreed & the breed received official recognition in 1997..

Temperment is stunning with the intelligence of the burmese but not so full on this is tempered by the more laid back nature of the Chinchilla.
The Burmilla is a great cat for families as they are very social and like to be around people.
Having said this if the family is away all day for long hours it is preferable to having 2 cats for company.
