Detailed description is Hadar Volunteer Fire & Rescue Department provides fire and rescue services to the Hadar Rural Fire District and surrounding areas.
Hadar Volunteer Fire & Rescue has been protecting property and saving lives since the early 1900's.
At that time, the city officials were the fire department! The first fire house in Hadar was built in 1927; prior to that, the fire equipment was stored on private property.
Hadar Fire Department was officially re-organized in 1934 to comply with state regulations.
Records do not really clarify when EMS became involved but there was mention of buying bandages in 1936 and first aid classes being taken in 1960.
In 2000, first responders were organized; in 2003, training was taken to become EMT-Basic.
Our present-day fire house/hall is located at 101 West Main Street in Hadar and underwent an addition in 2001.
We currently have 34 men and women who volunteer their time and efforts as firefighters and EMTs.
The department actively trains to keep up-to-date on the latest firefighting and EMS techniques, attending conferences, fire school, and monthly training meetings.
