Future Ready Schools – New Jersey (FRS-NJ) is a program to promote Digital Learning Readiness in schools throughout New Jersey.
The program, a partnership of the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE), the New Jersey School Boards Association (NJSBA) and New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), will help our schools promote the skills, abilities, and capacities essential for success in the 21st century..

Based at NJIT, the program will ultimately target approximately 2,500 K-12 schools with 1.4 million New Jersey students.
As noted by NJDOE Commissioner David Hespe, “FRS-NJ will provide needed guidance and resources to school administrators, school board members and other school leaders, helping them identify gaps in districts’ preparedness for digital learning, then directing them to resources that can help address those gaps.” The work of the FRS-NJ team will engage with the over 250,000 educators, administrators, and school board members across the state of New Jersey concerning student learning in a digital universe.
The work will also connect communities to the federal efforts and international movements towards future ready schools.

At the heart of the FRS-NJ program is the commitment to help communities move along the path towards full digital learning readiness and implementation by providing support and guidance to all stakeholders in the community, while generating awareness of the programs and resources that exist to aid them.
FRS-NJ will create a web page to serve as both a clearinghouse for information and resources, as well as a means of networking and collaboration.
This hub will also serve as the means for submitting reports and applications for the FRS-NJ recognition program.
The FRS-NJ team, composed of outstanding educators and experts on assessment at NJIT, will analyze data from the national Future Ready Schools and the NJTRAx Digital Learning surveys and develop criteria to assess each school’s progress in implementing the Future Ready Schools framework.
The team will then provide guidance and support tailored to each school’s specific needs.
FRS-NJ will also help schools pursue endorsements in areas of extended digital learning, STEAM education, interdisciplinary application of learning tools, and many other self-directed endeavors to enhance student learning with digital technology.
The program will assist districts to obtain grants and other resources to progress along the path towards effective digital learning for all students.
The NJIT team will also develop and deliver a collection of digital learning resources for use by all those interested in the educational process and send representatives to assist all New Jersey schools participating in the FRS-NJ program.
