Detailed description is Les Arcs' express, également appelé "Arc-en-Ciel", est un funiculaire situé sur la commune française de Bourg-Saint-Maurice et reliant la station de sports d'hiver des Arcs, dans le département de la Savoie en région Rhône-Alpes.HistoireTéléphérique de 1974 à 1988En 1974, lors du développement de la toute nouvelle station de ski des Arcs, la liaison de Bourg-Saint-Maurice à la station par Arc 1600 s'effectua par un téléphérique.Ce téléphérique d'une capacité d'environ 50 personnes, possédait vers le sommet un pylône escarpé, atteignant une vitesse de 10 m/s, proche de celle du funiculaire actuel.Funiculaire depuis 1989Le choix de la construction d'un funiculaire s'est effectué en automne 1986.L'une des raisons était pour que Montrigon et les Granges restent desservies, afin que les pistes de skis de ces villages ne soient pas abandonnées, et également d'assurer un plus grand débit par sa capacité de plusieurs voitures, face au nombre croissant de skieurs l'hiver.Les travaux ont duré trois ans et furent difficiles compte-tenu de la nature du terrain.
L'ouverture du funiculaire, après les examens, s'effectue le 23 février 1989.Le téléphérique des Arcs aurait alors fait doublon avec le funiculaire plus efficace, et il fut fermé et détruit un an après l'inauguration du funiculaire.StationsLa station basse est à Bourg-Saint-Maurice près de la gare SNCF et la station haute est à Arc 1600 (une station de Paradiski).
Celles-ci possèdent une voie encadrée de deux quais : un pour l'entrée et l'autre pour la sortie des voyageurs.
