FLYING TRAPEZE .
Policies and FAQs.
.
• Do you ever cancel classes because of rain or low enrollment?.
.
Yes the schedule is subject to change.
We will contact you by e-mail, text and/or a phone call to reach you to let you know if there is a change..
.
If it raining prior to the start of class with no hope of letting up, we will make every effort to give you as much notice as possible when we need to cancel a class.
.
.
If we need to cancel during class due to unexpected bad weather, we will give you a pro-rated refund..
.
We have the same policy for low enrollment – we will make a decision at least 2 hours prior to the start of class..
.
.
• What is your cancellation policy?.
.
All sales are final.
You must cancel your booking 24 hours before the start of the class.
.
.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you will.
be charged the full price of the class REGARDLESS of the reason for the cancellation..
.
• Liability Waiver.
ALL participants must fill out and sign our liability waiver.
If participants are under 18, the waiver must be signed by a parent or the legal guardian..
.
• How old do you have to be to participate?.
.
We recommend 6 years old to participate in a full 2-hour class.
.
.
• Is it safe?.
.
Safety is the number our one priority! .
.
A minimum of 3 fully trained professional aerialists operate the rig..
.
You will swing above a safety net at all times and will be harnessed in safety lines while climbing the ladder and swinging..
.
A few scrapes or bruises, as in any activity, sometimes occur.
However, rest assured every precaution is taken to make sure that each participant enjoys a safe experience..
.
• How high is the ladder that I have to climb?.
With few exceptions, everyone’s first flying trapeze experience is scary.
The ladder to the platform from where you swing is 25 feet off the ground.
The distance from the platform to the net is 15 feet, and the net to the ground is 10 feet..
.
• Is there a weight limit?.
Anyone above 225lbs should consult the staff before signing up for a class.
Our safety belt must be able to fit around your waist..
.
Your body shape is another important factor – if your stomach is much wider than your chest, your safety belt might not stay in place..
.
• Will I have enough upper body strength?.
.
As a good test, you should be able to hang from a horizontal bar with straight arms for 20-30 seconds.
We will teach you how to use the momentum of the swing, rather than strength to be successful.
.
.
If you are able to listen and react to our instructors’ commands, strength is not as much of a factor..
.
If you have any injuries that affect your grip, arm strength, or shoulder stability, please check with our staff before attempting a swing..
.
• What should I wear?.
The net is soft and bouncy to land in, but it can be rough on exposed skin.
You will be hooking your knees over the bar, so it is best to wear clothes that fit snugly and cover the back of your knees..
.
We recommend a tight fitting top, appropriate athletic under garments, and pants or capris that cover the backs of your knees without restricting too much motion (yoga pants are good, skinny jeans are not).
.
.
If you are taking a nighttime class consider wearing bright colors so they show up on the photos and videos better!.
.
Bring a pair of socks to wear while you fly and sandles, flip flops or crocs to sear between turns - bare feet are not allowed.
.
.
If you have long hair, put it up with a rubber band, not clips..
.
• How are the classes structured?.
.
Classes are two hours long with a maximum of 10 people.
.
.
If it is your first time on the flying trapeze we will take the first 10-15 minutes of the class to give you an on-the-ground introduction into what you will be doing.
.
.
During this time we will go over safety procedures and flying trapeze etiquette.
Once you’ve completed the introduction you will spend the remainder of the class taking turns on the trapeze attempting various tricks and then dropping into the net.
.
.
With a safety harness on, you will get hooked into a safety line to climb the ladder.
At the top, you will step onto the platform where an instructor will lines will get you switched to the safety lines to fly..
.
The instructor will have you step to the edge of the board and hang your toes over the edge.
The instructor will firmly hold your safety belt to help you feel more secure..
.
You will then take the trapeze bar in your hands and do a bunny hop forward off of the platform..
.
An instructor known as a “Line Puller” will be holding your safety lines from the ground.
He or she will be giving you simply worded instructions in a loud voice every step of the way till your feet are once again on the ground..
.
Your first trick is the “knee hang”.
.
.
There is a time to put your legs up (when you are weightless) and a time to take your hands off and put them back on.
.
.
Because of momentum, it is easier to do a knee hang while flying on the trapeze than a static bar.
After a few attempts, the catcher goes up and you will fly to him/her.
.
.
We allot the last 30 minutes of the class to attempting to catch the tricks that you have been working on.
As a general rule of thumb, we dictate the speed of the class on each individual’s ability level.
.
.
If you are afraid of heights and just want to swing and drop, that is OK and we will help you progress at your comfort.
.
.
If you are picking up the tricks quickly, we will allow you to move on to something different.
.
.
Since all of our classes are mixed ability levels, you may be learning your first trick while someone else in the class has been working on the same trick for several classes.
.
.
• Physical, Health & Medical Restrictions.
.
If you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol, you will not be allowed to go on the trapeze.
.
.
If you are pregnant, or think you might be pregnant, flying trapeze is not for you.
.
.
If you have back, neck or shoulder injuries or have had surgery on these areas you should forgo trapeze..
.
As with any exercise or physical activity you are advised to check With your doctor if you are uncertain about your capabilities..
.
Please call to ask about specific concerns or accommodations..
.
Vision and hearing impairments can be accommodated.
.
.
People with other disabilities may be able to fly if they are able to climb the ladder with minimal assistance, and hang from the bar with their.
own hands.
If you have questions, concerns or would like more information, don’t hesitate to ask..
