Detailed description is Unique Mini-mosaic decorative art and Kumihimo jewelry designed by Ailanna Stoebling, New Paltz, NY.
My mosaic art, developed in the Netherlands and based on counted cross stitch, is created using a high resolution digital photo that is downloaded into a special program where the photo is broken into pixels.
I then use special tools to determine size, improve and determine colors and then to print out 4" x 5" graphs that I use to create my mosaic..
Materials used to create my art include 4" x 5" baseplates each with 2,000 spikes, 1/32" polymer tiles in over 300 colors, and the all important tweezers.
Tiles are placed, one by one, on the spikes using tweezers.
NO glue is used..
Baseplates are joined together with dovetails and then taped.
Joined plates are mounted on strong mat board, painted with a gloss containing some glitter, and framed.

Kumihimo (the ancient art of Japanese braiding) was developed sometime during the 4th century.
Using various types of cords, such as satin, Japanese or Czech glass seed beads, pearls and other brilliant beads, as well as a modern version of a braiding loom, I create unique jewelry not found in most stores.
