Simons Island, Doug Harris knows the importance of good food and traditional Southern hospitality.
With over 20 years experience in corporate restaurant business he set out to call something his own.

In early 2009 he found his location, 1801 Frederica Road.
The building was formally a restaurant but had originally been owned and operated by his lifelong neighbor Ms.
Peggy Missledine.
It was established in 1959 as Peggy Missledine's Fireside Cottage a high end clothing store for women and men.
It has changed ownership over the years and as an ode to Mrs.
Missledine Doug painted the building back to it's original color red and named it Doug Harris' Fireside Café.
Inside you will find lots of history of St.
Simons Island from pictures of the past to the Glynn Academy Football Wall of Fame and the sunroom which is dedicated to his father Reid Walker Harris for his book 'And the Coastlands Wait' an account of his involvement in the creation of the Coastal Marshlands Protection Act of 1970..
