We offer lessons and now offer horseshoeing! Have you ever had a dream that you wanted to do as far back as you can remember? I was born in Albuquerque, NM and heard my mom tell stories of growing up on the ranch in Wagon Mound.
She talked of times she rode in the parade and going and running barrels at the local events.
I have always been drawn to horses.
I don't mean I have always liked them, I mean I have always been drawn to them.
I need them like water, food, and oxygen.
I begged for a horse every birthday and Christmas, but we lived in town until I was about 8.
When we finally moved to a place in Las Vegas, NV with a quarter acre lot, my dream came true! Literally an older, sway back grey mare, named Josie and she was PERFECT! I rode all the time and all over.
I had to ride a couple of miles, but there was an arena I could use, and use it I did.
It didn't take long for me to want more and my next horse was a quick little appy mare that new every speed event! I started out holding her back, but it didn't take long and I was ready for faster! I have been barrel racing since the age of 9.
I had the chance to see Charmayne and Scamper when I was 8 at the NFR, and in 6th grade when we had to write what we wanted our future to be for the time capsule, I wrote, I wanted to marry a cowboy and raise and train barrel horses.
I also wrote I wanted to be a vet; I guess two out of three isn't bad! It's taken a long time to get here and it hasn't been without heartbreak! In March of 2015, I had to do the hardest thing I have ever done.
I had to say goodbye to my mother after a hemorrhagic stroke! I lost the only person that had been with me my whole life, the one who always said "Go for it!", and the person I called for EVERYTHING! She always supported my goals no matter how crazy or what kind of sacrifice it meant for her, she never said "you can't do that", in fact, she always said, "you can do anything you really put your mind to doing!", and then she helped me get there! She is helping me still even though I can't see her, and oh how I wish I could! She is a big part of why I wanted to call this business,"Faith to Fly".
We all know you better have faith in your trusty steed when you fly down the alley way or head down the mountain after a calf, you better have faith in yourself and your ability, I personally have faith in God, that he has always provided and carried me through, but it's always nice to know someone else has faith in you too! I haven't forgotten my husband of 20 years! He was breaking and training riding and ranch horses at a very young age and he is my eyes on the ground and my resource.
Our first twenty years were spent raising kids, cattle, and ranching.
Together we have over 40 years of horse experience both in the arena and working cattle.
We are quite the team! We know what makes a good horse, and I could not do this without him and wouldn't have gotten this far without him by my side.
You don't just get THAT lucky! God had a plan! And Mom, yep, she loved him too.
Usually taking his side! In fact she told me once when I was being picky about a project we were working on that he was a Saint and I was spoiled! I am spoiled, she was right about that! I also have two beautiful daughters that also race and are super excited for our next adventure! And a grand daughter that already loves to ride! Mom always had faith in me, in us, and she always helped give flight to our dreams, so Faith to Fly is my way of remembering her love and grace and determination as well as reminding me to always give thanks and glory to God! And we all want our dreams to fly, right!
