Eve’s Fund for Native American Health Initiatives was incorporated in New Mexico in 2005 by retired neurosurgeon Dr.
Robert M.
Crowell in memory of his daughter, Eve Erin Crowell.
Currently, our efforts are focused on students in kindergarten through 12th grade in the Four Corners area of the southwestern United States (mainly Arizona, New Mexico, and Utah).
These young people are served regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, or physical ability.

The population in the area we serve is predominantly Navajo, with some individuals of adjacent tribes.
Most of these young people live in poverty and face enormous obstacles in their lives.
Death rates from vehicular crashes and suicide are 3-4 times higher than national rates.
Domestic violence and abuse are common.
Teen pregnancy and substance abuse are at rates higher than the national average.
High school dropout rates are almost 50 percent.
Of those individuals who do graduate, only five percent go directly to four-year colleges.
Eve’s Fund was started to help Navajo youth overcome these obstacles and increase the hope they need to lead their best lives..

We created our ThinkFirst Navajo program, a chapter of ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation, in an effort to prevent fatal and disabling injuries on the Navajo Nation.
Among 200,000 Navajo people, the death rate from motor vehicle crashes is more than three times the national average and more than 500 die on the highway each year.
An even higher number of individuals sustain brain and spinal cord injuries.
Most of these accidents are alcohol-related, and many involve children and young adults.
Research through ThinkFirst National Injury Prevention Foundation has proven that most brain and spinal cord injuries can be prevented.
