No período de 1972 a 1986, passou a funcionar como Escola Técnica de Plásticos, onde eram desenvolvidos os cursos de Ferramentaria de Moldes para Plásticos e o Curso Técnico de Plástico, sendo estes, mais tarde, transferidos para outra Unidade SENAI.

No período de 1987 a 1989, para atender à necessidade de mão-de-obra qualificada / especializada em manutenção industrial, teve suas dependências adaptadas para abrigar, a partir de janeiro de 1990, Cursos e Treinamentos em ocupações nas áreas de Manutenção Industrial, Mecânica e Eletroeletrônica, assim como atividades de modernização de máquinas e equipamentos de outras Escolas do SENAI.

A escolha de seu nome é uma homenagem a Frederico Jacob, um grande incentivador da implantação do Curso Técnico na área de Plástico, que se destacou também como Presidente do Sindicato da Indústria de Materiais Plásticos do Estado de São Paulo e como membro da FIESP.

Atualmente a Unidade oferece, como ensino regular profissionalizante, os Cursos Técnicos em Manutenção de Máquinas Industriais e em Eletroeletrônica e os Cursos de Aprendizagem Industrial Mecânico de Manutenção, Eletricista de Manutenção Eletroeletrônica e Agente Administrativo DUAL SABESP.
