Detailed description is This is not a backpackers due to legal restrictions in NZ, but if you need a room for a week or more in Christchurch it's not a bad option..
Just Sayin..
We have single rooms double rooms and rooms with bunks and rooms you that can figure out what to do with them..
There is only one stove , three bathrooms and car space for around 5-6 cars but there is always parking on the street here available..
Some people play loud music all night, other nights are quiet.
Most people stay here on their way to the snow or their last stop in NZ before going home.
Some people stay here a while as work is easy to get here so you can cash up before heading back or forward to where you will go..
We have a good kitchen..
everyone meets up and drinks and shares the info....
Work is easy here - within a week you will have work in Christchurch to save forAsia or wherever you are headed next..
Julian knows all the bar owners so if you are interested in heading out to meet other travelers just take him away from his computer..
Christchurch has an amazing history and some beautiful day visits from this hostel - we are sort of well situated though not right in the city..
Friday is drink night - bring some white rum or Cachaça if you can, and lemons and ice if you can afford them..
We can organise a pickup from the plane or bus if you need one ...
just give us a call a day or two before to confirm..
We have a free washing machine and dryer but you may need to wait a few days in line to use them...

Full kitchen (though it could be bigger) seems to work well if everyone cleans up after themselves..
Pretty sure we are the only hostel in Christchurch with free wifi...
though the signal is weak outside and upstairs..
We clean daily, but its not a hotel...
we aim to provide cheap accom to awesome travellers who are self sufficient and don't want to pay $10 extra a night for a perfectly working toilet or overflowing sink - which does happen..

If we advise you to do something the tour operator might buy us a beer one day for the introduction but we feel its wrong to combine accom with commission on tours etc....
