Detailed description is Sweet and Sassy Home Embroidery It all started with an embroidery machine my husband gave me for Christmas one year.
First, I embroidered every wash cloth and dish towel in the house.
Then personalized blankets for friends.

I made shirts for several children I talked into wanting one (one of whom was mine..
he was young then and much more agreeable to his mom's demands).

The time came to make a choice, and I set out to create a business doing what I enjoyed.
Initially I had only family and friends as customers.
Through word of mouth I gained a moderate customer base, and soon my business grew to making and selling embroidered items at craft shows.
I created a Facebook page, and was picked up by a local dance team for their competition shirts.
A friend of a friend was getting married and ordered personalized robes for the bride and bridesmaids, flower girl and ring bearer shirts for the reception, and beautiful embroidered poems on handkerchiefs for the mothers of the bride and groom.
That order led to so many more, and I was grateful to be able to purchase a second (much bigger, stronger, and more versatile) embroidery machine.
With the addition of the new machine, I was finally convinced I should open this shop on Etsy.
The rest, as they say, is history.

Since finding a market on Etsy, I have stopped selling at craft shows and now devote all of my attention to this online shop and to special orders through my Embroidery By Punky Facebook page.
I use Baby Lock and Brother embroidery machines and a premium software program to create the digital designs, and each can be easily altered to meet your needs..

Do I do all of this by myself? Well, sometimes.
For the longest time, while this business was getting off the ground and for years after that, my most awesome niece Autumn was my other half.
She and I learned this craft together.
I'm proud to share that she doesn't work with me anymore, because she grew up, got a big girl job, and continues to go to nursing school during the day and save lives as a EMT running 911 calls at night.
These days my dear friend Lee is learning the trade.
She is great on the embroidery machine and will soon be learning the design software.
She's very quick to check customer messages and is always committed to making sure the work gets done on time.

Who is Punky? Is it my nickname? Nope.
Punky Doodle is the registered name of the home business I own.
Punky is a silly nickname I started calling my son when he was a baby, and still call him it occasionally (like when he's sleeping so he doesn't hear me).
Doodle is my ten year old dog's nickname.
Her real name is Mollie but if you have food she doesn't care what you call her..

Why the name change? If you are a previous customer, a family member, or friend, you know that my Etsy store was called Two Broke Girls Designs for, well, ever.
It has come to my attention that the shop name led some (ok, one) to think it was affiliated with the popular TV show with the same name.
Rather than dispute the questionable sanity of such a suggestion, I agreed to change the name.
