Detailed description is 3 Sterne+ Hotel im Stadtzentrum von Bad Schandau, direkt an der Elbpromenade Das im Stadtzentrum von Bad Schandau, direkt an der Elbpromenade gelegene Elbhotel vereint in seinen Mauern eine alte, gleichzeitig wechselhafte Geschichte, die sich bis ins Jahre 1876 zurückverfolgen lässt, als das Elbhotel (östlicher Teil) vom Brauereibesitzer Schönfeld erbaut wurde.
Doch schon 1888 wurde das Elbhotel an den Hotelier Stephan verkauft.
1901 erfolgte der Anbau des westlichen Flügels und 1920 wurden die Geschwister Margarete & Camilla als Gesellschafter eingesetzt.
Zu einer Zeit als Bad Schandau zu einem beliebten Reiseziel des wohlhabenden Bürgertums galt das Elbhotel als erste Adresse in Bad Schandau und wurde auch international bekannt.
Es waren nicht immer glanzvolle Zeiten, die das Elbhotel durch seine Geschichte begleiteten, etwa als 1970 das Hotel in Staatseigentum überging und bis 1977 durch Umbauarbeiten die schöne Vorderfront aus der Gründerzeit einer "modernen" Fassade wich..

Nach der Wiedervereinigung ging das Hotel in Besitz eines Hoteliers aus Südtirol über, bis im August 2002 auch das Elbhotel von der verheerenden Jahrhundertflut getroffen wurde, dies zerstörte den gesamten Erdgeschossbereich und all seine Einrichtung sowie den gastronomischen Bereich völlig..

Im November 2004 der Wiederaufbau durch den Eigentümer und nach umfangreichen Baumaßnahmen wurden das Hotel und die Gaststätte durch Familie Mitzscherlich am 1.
April 2005 wiedereröffnet.
Im Dezember kam nach Umbauarbeiten noch ein Wellnessbereich mit Trocken- und Dampfsauna sowie Erlebnisduschen und einem Kneipscher Pfad hinzu.

Die einmalige Lage an der Elbe, Fluch uns Segen zu gleich, auch im Frühjahr 2006 stand das Wasser wieder 75 cm im Erdgeschoss.
Das vorerst letzte Hochwasser im Juni 2013 zwang das Elbhotel zu einer kurzen Pause, konnte aber 15.08.2013 den Hotel- und Restaurantbetrieb weiterführen.
Während dieser Zeit erhielten die bisherigen Pächter, die Familie Mitzscherlich, die Gelegenheit und konnten das Elbhotel erwerben.
Daraufhin erfolgten Anfang 2014 noch einige Sanierungs- und Umbaumaßnahmen und verfügt derzeit über 42 Doppelzimmer und 4 Appartements welche komfortable, hell und freundlich im Landhausstil eingerichtet sind.
