Detailed description is El Centro College Drama Department The El Centro College Drama Department welcomes all students wishing to participate in the art and work of theatre.
We offer a variety of classes ranging from an Introduction to Theater to Stage Make-up to Acting.
The department produces at least 2 main stage productions, one each long semester – Fall and Spring – usually directed by drama faculty.
We also produce plays in the black-box Arena Theater.
Directors include both faculty and students wanting to explore the art of directing live theatre in a small space.
All students and members of the El Centro family are invited to audition.
Our program meets more than distributional requirements.
It challenges students to look at the possibilities of performance.
A multi-disciplinary approach to training ensure that our students are proficient in all areas of the theatre.
We educate students to understand the societal, cultural, and academic contexts of creating theatre in the 21st century.
We encourage experimentation and the use of technology while providing a strong foundation of classical and traditional texts and styles.
