En el año de 1989, época donde el tequila tenía la reputación de ser un producto de poca calidad, adulterado y de sabor aguardentoso, el visionario Don Alberto Becherano tuvo un sueño, el de crear una bebida de Agave que pudiera paladearse de la misma forma que un fino Cognac..

Basado en estos ideales creó el concepto de ®Elixir de Agave, una certificación otorgada solamente a productos 100% puros de agave, que contaran con un sabor amable, sobria personalidad y un seductor bouquet, inicialmente solo existía un producto que cumplía con estas características llamado ®Don Maximiliano y únicamente estaba disponible para miembros de un exclusivo club de coleccionistas y conocedores.
