Detailed description is The College of Fine Arts and Communication is home to the schools of Art & Design, Communication, Music, and Theatre & Dance, at East Carolina University.
Our college traces its history back to the very beginning of East Carolina University.
In 1909, the first group of ten faculty members hired by Robert Wright to instruct the students of East Carolina Teachers College included an art teacher and a music teacher.
Theatre and oral communication were also regular offerings from the start.
While our programs have grown and changed significantly over the last century, they continue to play a central role in the life of ECU.
In 2003, the Schools of Art and Design and Music were combined with the departments of Theatre and Dance and Communication to form the College of Fine Arts and Communication.
We are proud to have been part of the founding of this university and look forward to a new century of programmatic distinction..
