A little bit about us....Maurice and Jennifer and our little homestead!.

Next year we will be celebrating 20 years together and ten years ago we found our "happy place"....a one acre acreage! And oh how life has changed!! I couldn't wait to have a place where I could have as many cats as I could have...that changed too (I quickly found out how fast that gets out of control.).
Now we are focused on organic gardening, raising chickens, half a$$ prepping (I do more reading about than actually doing), and just generally being more self sustainable.
Several months ago I posed the question to Maurice.."Why don't we hang out with more like minded people?" Inevitably, all of our friends we used to do everything with have moved away, bought their own houses, having kids, jobs...blah blah blah.
Such is life!! But then lo and behold...this whole new community just appeared before my eyes....a whole bunch of people that are more like us! .

Obviously, I value whatever time I do get to spend with my friends! But we are the wierdos in our group..lol! We grow most of our own food, I make anything I can homemade (and always adding new stuff), we cook for fun, I cook for a living...basically our lives revolve around food.
While I cook, Maurice is hauling food and other life's necessities to the store shelves.
We read books, listen to sirius radio and live about as simply as possible...basically we are not trying to keep up with the Jones's! .

I chose to start this page for a variety of reasons...mostly because after I lost my factory job of 13 years and was fortunate enough to go back to college where I learned that I liked to write.
However, I know myself....i.e.
