Detailed description is The District Science centre was opened to the public on 6th January 1984 under NCSM.
Dist.
Science Centre, Gulbarga is one of the 25 units of National Council of Science Museums, functioning under the purview of Ministry of Culture, Govt.
of India.
It is only one of its kinds in Karnataka and first Science centre opened in South India.
It was dedicated to the people of Gulbarga on 6th January 1984.
This centre is under the administrative control of Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bangalore..

Main objective of the centre is to popularise Science and technology to the students in particular and general public at large, through the interactive exhibits displayed in the Galleries of the centre and educational extensional programmes /competitions, which the centre organises.
District Science Centres are activity oriented centres in contrast to the large metropolitan Museums, which are exhibit oriented.

Apart from these facilities centre has Science Park (opened in 1995).
Other facilities of the centre are Mirror maze corner (opened in 2012), Telescopes for observing the night sky and a mobile science exhibition bus (1992).
