Detailed description is La Direction de l’information légale et administrative est une direction d’administration centrale des services du Premier ministre.
Née de la fusion entre la Documentation française et la Direction des Journaux officiels, la Direction de l'information légale et administrative (DILA) a vu le jour par décret (n°2010-31) le 11 janvier 2010.
Placée sous l'autorité du Premier ministre et rattachée au secrétaire général du Gouvernement, la DILA assure quatre missions principales : la diffusion des données dont la publication est obligatoire, par la publication au Journal officiel de la République française et dans les bulletins d’annonces légale la conception et le fonctionnement de services d’information qui permettent aux citoyens de connaître leurs droits et obligations et facilitent leurs démarches, comme www.service-public.fr ou le « 3939 » ; la facilitation de l’accès des citoyens à la vie publique et au débat public, par l’édition et la diffusion de publications sous la marque éditoriale de la Documentation française et par la mise à disposition de documents et d’espaces de diffusion sur internet ; la préparation de la politique interministérielle dans le domaine de la diffusion légale, de l’information administrative et de l’édition publique.
Un second décret (n°2010-32) du même jour, a institué quant à lui le Conseil d'orientation de l'édition publique et de l'information administrative.
Il exercera une fonction d'évaluation, d'expertise et de conseil en matière d'édition publique et de mise à disposition des données publiques.
