1. 1978 - A Escola Técnica Federal de Minas Gerais foi transformada no Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica de Minas Gerais, passando a ter como objetivos a realização de pesquisas na área técnica industrial e a oferta de cursos técnicos industriais, de graduação e pós-graduação, visando à formação de profissionais em engenharia industrial e de tecnólogos, de licenciatura plena e curta para as disciplinas especializadas do 2º grau e dos cursos de tecnólogos, além de cursos de extensão, aperfeiçoamento e especialização na área técnica industrial.

2. 1981 - Iniciou-se a oferta de cursos para Formação de Professores da Parte de Formação Especial do Currículo do Ensino Médio, tanto na sede, em Belo Horizonte, quanto no interior do Estado e em outras Unidades da Federação.

3. 1998 - Foi apresentada ao MEC uma nova proposta de formação de professores na forma do Programa Especial de Formação Pedagógica de Docentes, disciplinado pela Resolução CNE/CP n.
002 de 26/06/1997.
Pelo Parecer CNE/CES n.
214 de 24/02/1999, o CNE manifestou-se favorável à autorização da implantação do referido programa, que conta com oferta regular e gratuita desde 1999.
