The choir was originally formed as EDTChoir, with one purpose only, to take a gold medal in the world's largest choir competition; World Choir Games'12.
The founders Erland Dalen and Thomas Caplin are two of Norway's most talented and renowned conductors.
They have both won numerous international choir competitions and earned several prizes with many vocal groups and choirs.

The autumn of 2012 "EDTChoir" changes it's name to "Defrost Youth Choir", with a new goal.
To create and build people through song on the principals of tolerance, solidarity, morality and respect.
The choir is now lead by Thomas Caplin only.

Koret ble opprinnelig dannet med navnet EDTChoir med kun et mål for øyet, å ta gull i verdens største korkonkurranse: World Choir Games.
Koret ble dannet av to av Norges mest talentfulle og anerkjente dirigenter Erland Dalen og Thomas Caplin.
De har begge vunnet internasjonale korkonkurranser og mottattflere priser for sitt arbeid, både nasjonalt og internasjonalt.
