Detailed description is Comstock Township public parks originated in 1936 with the appointment of a Park Commission.Merrill Park was the first public park opened in 1939, and was named after Thomas Merrill.

Cooper Park is named after the famous Author James Fenimore Cooper.
He was a relative of Horace Comstock and visited this area.

in 1964, the current bridge at Cooper Park was installed.
This is the unofficial trademark of Comstock Township.
