Our area's unique combination of bucolic surroundings and unpretentious chic is the perfect setting for inspiring the arts and providing an environment for local performers and artists to showcase their skills.
The Community Theatre at Woodbury (CT@W) was formed in 2013 in response to the community's expressed desire for quality live theatre.
CT@W's mission is to work in tandem with the Woodbury Arts and Culture Activities Committee to promote theatre arts, including children's theatre, as well as associated artistic expressions including music, dance, and visual arts such as sculpture, painting, photography, cinema and video.
With a nod from the town's leaders, CT@W, which operates as a non-profit, all volunteer organization under the auspices of the Woodbury Parks and Recreation Department, was offered a home in one of Woodbury's historic buildings: the Old Town Hall at 5 Mountain Road, Woodbury, Connecticut.
The Old Town Hall has a rich history dating back to 1846.
In the past it was used for offices and all civic and social occasions – and at one time its cellar served as the town's jail! Beautifully rennovated in 2011, this building is available for public use and has been a venue for weddings, art shows and workshops and a filming stage for the world-renouned dance troupe Polabolus (just to name a few).
And now "theatre" joins the list! Our desire is to involve as many people within our communities as possible: Whether you're an actor, artist or craftsman, enthusiast or a member of the audience, it doesn't matter what you bring to the table or what your skill level is – just bring it! So join us and grow, teach, create, meet new friends, have fun and give back to your community in a supportive and welcoming environment.
